Emergency Preparedness Fair, Car Show and Backpack Giveaway

Free Lunch for Kids

• Spring Valley Library will provide free lunch for kids under 18 all week long. Free lunch will be available (while supplies last) at Noon starting Monday, Aug. 5 through Friday, Aug. 9 at the Spring Valley Library. 

• City of La Mesa will host an Emergency Preparedness Fair with La Mesa Police officers and Heartland Firefighters available to interact with the participants and tour emergency vehicles. The Fair is in conjunction with National Night Out Against Crime. Emergency Preparedness Fair will start at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the North Target parking lot at Grossmont Center. 

• Car Show will feature vintage cars in the heart of La Mesa. Back to the 50s Car Show will start at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8 along La Mesa Blvd between Acacia and Fourth Streets in the Village. 

• Spring Valley Chamber of Commerce will give away backpacks for kids in grades 1-12. Backpack Giveaway will start at 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9 at the New Seasons Church in Spring Valley. 

• Enjoy live music every Friday night in August. The free concert will feature the Beatles tribute band, Silver Beatles. Bring your dancing shoes at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9 to the Macy's Courtyard at Grossmont Center.
