Heartland Fire & Rescue Names Interim Chief
Heartland provides firefighting, prevention, preparedness and emergency medical services in the cities of El Cajon, La Mesa and Lemon Grove.

LA MESA, CA – Mike Chasin, a 30-year veteran of emergency services in Southern California, will assume the post of interim chief of Heartland Fire & Rescue next month, the East County agency announced Tuesday.
Chasin will begin heading the department Aug. 11, taking over for current Chief Colin Stowell, who has been appointed to lead the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Chasin began his career as an emergency medical technician at UCLA in 1989. In 1997, he was hired by the city of El Cajon as a firefighter-paramedic, and went on to serve there in various capacities, including fire engineer, fire captain, fire marshal and division chief.
