For more than 40 years, this non-profit program has been helping disabled children through the therapeutic power of horseback riding.
Saturday mornings are meant for kids to have fun. , located on Russell Road, is the place for horses and handicapped children to become friends.
Almost every Saturday morning you can find Dave Carter and several volunteers helping out with this program for handicapped children. Specially-trained horses are brought to the arena, saddled up and are ridden by children, with their doctor's approval, around the arena with watchful eyes of the parents and volunteers.
Smiles abound, and over the years, several miracles have been experienced between these horses and young riders, from first words spoken to first steps taken. In addition to the children learning to ride a horse, they are also improving their balance, muscle development, concentration, pride and accomplishment and, just getting outside and being a kid.
