Police Officer Shoots Man to Death in Mission Valley

The suspect was reportedly armed with a box cutter.

San Diego police shot a man in Mission Valley early today. He was armed with a boxcutter, according to media reports.

The shooting was reported in the 5600 block of Mission Center Road near Westside Drive was reported shortly after midnight, San Diego police Officer Ben Newton said.

A suspect was shot and killed near a CVS store, San Diego News Video reported.

The investigation was turned over to homicide detectives, as is protocol with all officer-involved shootings regardless of whether anyone is fatally wounded.
