SPRING VALLEY, CA — Firefighters reached full containment Thursday evening of a previously fast-moving brush fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon in Spring Valley, officials reported.
The Pointe Fire, which erupted on a hillside north of Sweetwater Reservoir, prompting mandatory evacuations for nearby residents, was 100 percent contained at 26 acres as of 8 p.m. Thursday, according to Cal Fire-San Diego.
In the early hours of the wildfire, as flames drew dangerously close to homes, crews worked fast to contain the fire, enabling residents to return home by about 7 p.m. Wednesday.
