City Council Applicants Sought In Lafayette
The seat was left vacant by the death of Councilman Mark Mitchell.

LAMORINDA, CA — The Lafayette City Council is seeking applications from people interested in filling a seat left vacant after Councilman Mark Mitchell passed away last month.
The Council will accept applications until 5 p.m. on Jan. 4 from any registered voter in Lafayette.
Mitchell died of natural causes on Nov. 5 and no special election is possible before his term ends in November 2020.

The Council will review applications on the week of Jan. 7 and expects to fill the vacant seat by Jan. 11 in time for the panel's first meeting of the new year on Jan. 14.
