Contra Costa Sheriff's Office Donates Old Protective Gear To Ukraine
The helmets and body armor will be used to equip Ukrainian civilians with an additional layer of safety, officials said.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office recently donated more than 60 pieces of such safety gear as old helmets, body armor and other equipment to citizens of Ukraine, as part of a drive organized by the California Office of Emergency Services.
“We are pleased to be able to offer this protective equipment, which would have been disposed,” said Sheriff David Livingston. “Although this gear is out of date, it could offer some protection for Ukrainian civilians.”
Cal OES was in contact with the Ukrainian Consulate in San Francisco, which expressed the need for ballistic vests and helmets and other personal protective equipment for the country's civilians, the agency said. The gear will be used to equip Ukranian civilians with an additional layer of safety, Cal OES said.
