Down The Drain: Firefighters Save Turkey Chicks

Moraga-Orinda Firefighters respond to all kinds of calls, including fowl rescues.

LAMORINDA, CA — Firefighters are called upon to put their lives on line to save people from burning homes or halt wildfires before they can reach structures. Judging by the smiles on the faces of Moraga-Orinda firefighters from Moraga Station 42, they enjoyed their duty on Monday.

They were called out to rescue turkey chicks that had fallen into a storm drain.

The firefighters were able to fish out all of the chicks. One sturdy chick was reunited with its mother. The others were struggling, so they were handed over to Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital in Walnut Creek.
