Saint Mary's College and Performing Arts Department present the Student Dance Company: A Random Plate of Deliciousness

What: The Saint Mary's College and Performing Arts Department present the Student Dance Company: A Random Plate of Deliciousness celebrating our rich diversity of dance styles with works in the modern dance genre, contemporary ballet, tap, and world dance traditions of Ghana. Each choreographer found a place to tantalize the senses with dances that emerge from the savory to sweet. As dancers we share a love for food and the blessings that a good meal will provide. This plate is served with love and intended to satiate your appetite and spirit.
With choreography by guest artists: Lou Fancher, Rogelio Lopez Garcia, and Megan Opel; and the dance faculty: Catherine Marie Davalos, Pope Flyne, Dana Lawton, Shaunna Vella.
Program highlights: Alumnus Megan Opel returns to Saint Mary’s to set a Tap piece on the student company, Keep on Running, Keep on Looking. Guest Artist Rogelio Lopez Garcia, new to the Bay Area, created The Wishing Tree as a tribute to his sister. Lou Fancher, freelance choreographer, ballet mistress, author and journalist, choreographed Escape as an exploration of the word both as a noun and a verb. Also on the program are dances by the esteemed faculty at Saint Mary’s College: Catherine Marie Davalos, Pope Flyne, Dana Lawton, and Shaunna Vella. Join us for an evening of incredible (and edible) dancing.
