Hurricane Irma: PG&E Crews To Restore Florida Power
Line workers, equipment operators, supervisors and other personnel are all preparing to leave for Florida.

CALIFORNIA — We may be on the opposite coast, but workers from California will play a role in restoring electricity in Florida after an expected direct hit from Hurricane Irma.
PG&E crews are preparing to head to south Florida, according to the utility. The company has a mutual aid agreement with Florida Power & Light. The agreement was signed in 2014 and this will be the second time it has been activated, following Hurricane Matthew in the area last year.
About 100 PG&E employees including line workers, equipment operators, supervisors and other personnel will travel to Florida after the hurricane moves through the area.

Under the agreement, FPL will cover the costs of the support from PG&E.
Hurricane Irma has already killed 10 people and destroyed thousands of homes as it's torn through the Caribbean, with more idyllic islands in it path before hitting the US mainland.
