Lafayette Fire Caused By Transformer: Con Fire Investigation
The Oct. 27 fire burned down the Lafayette Tennis Club.

LAMORINDA, CA — A wildfire that burned down the Lafayette Tennis Club on Oct. 27 was caused by an electrical transformer, investigators for the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District have concluded.
The final report was released Thursday by Public Information Officer Steve Hill.
Hill says that the vegetation fire "originated from an electrical event from a power pole next to the roadway on Camino Diablo Boulevard. There was evidence of an event with electrical equipment -- wiring and pole."

Fire and sparks from the transformer fell to the ground and spread from there.
Other possible ignition sources were eliminated.
