New Businesses Eye Moraga's Rheem Center

Moragans are clamoring for more dining, grocery options in town. It looks like they're on the way - with a bonus business to sweeten the deal.

Moragans concerned by the desertion of business from their downtown centers may take heart in news that at least three new businesses - a restaurant, produce/grocery market, and a sweet shop - have applied for permits to open in the Rheem Valley Shopping Center.

Town Manager Mike Segrest says the businesses - which he did not name - have applied for conditional use permits to operate in Moraga.  The Town, he said, has waived the fees for the permits and is processing them administratively in order to expedite the process.

"I am very pleased to see some renewed interest in the Rheem Shopping Center," Mike says.  "We have also heard there may be another application in the near future, but do not have the details at this time."
