PG&E Works to Shore Up Soil Around Transmission Tower

A mudsllde in the Orinda area caused the tower to become unstable, officials said. [BREAKING]

ORINDA, CA – Work was done Sunday to shore up the soil around a transmission tower in a remote area of Orinda ahead of another Bay Area storm that is expected to start this week, National Weather Service officials and a PG&E spokeswoman said.

The work to shore up the soil started Saturday in an area where there are no homes or businesses, spokeswoman Tamar Sarkissian said.

A mudslide caused the soil around the tower to become unstable and crews were using helicopters today to shore it up to support the tower.
