Dangerous Fire Conditions Warning For Orinda, East Bay Hills

Strong winds, low humidity prompted a Red Flag Warning for East Bay Hills, raising concerns about rapid wildfire spread and power outages.

LAMORINDA, CA — Orinda police have issued a Red Flag Warning for the East Bay Hills.

The Red Flag alerts are issued by the National Weather Service, which cited strong winds and low relative humidity that could create critical weather conditions. The alert is from 11 p.m. Wednesday until 9 a.m. Thursday.

Residents should avoid activities during that time that could spark a fire, ensure they are prepared in the case of a wildfire emergency, and monitor local weather conditions.

PG&E issued a warning yesterday based on the National Weather Service forecasts. The utility warned residents to prepare for possible power shutoffs as strong winds and increasingly dry conditions threaten to elevate wildfire risk beginning Wednesday. That alert was aimed primarily at the North Bay.
