5 Arrested After Hit-and-Run In Corte Madera

The vehicle invovled was reportedly stolen from Richmond, police said.

CORTE MADERA, CA -- Five suspects were arrested in Corte Madera Tuesday evening after allegedly fleeing the scene of a collision in a stolen vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Around 6:40 p.m. the CHP was notified of a hit-and-run collision on U.S. Highway 101 near Paradise Drive.

The suspect vehicle's license plate matched that of a vehicle reported stolen in Richmond on Saturday, so the CHP notified the Marin County Sheriff's Office and the Central Marin Police Authority to be on the lookout for it.

Roughly 20 minutes after the collision, a Corte Madera resident notified police that five people had just exited a suspicious vehicle with fresh collision damage that had just been parked in front of a home on Prince Royal Drive.

Responding officers found and detained all five suspects nearby, three of whom turned out to be minors. Richmond residents Josephine Dura, 19, and Alba Franco, 18, were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

CHP officers thanked the reporting party for their description of the suspect vehicle and its license plate, saying that timely reporting led to the successful resolution of this case.
