Suffragists' Celebration Tea: Celebrating the Centennial of Women’s Suffrage in California
CELEBRATE 100 years of women voting in California with afternoon tea in a historic Larkspur home.
Don't miss this rare opportunity to get an "inside look" at one of Larkspur's heritage homes while celebrating the centennial of the California suffrage vote of 1911, which granted state voting rights to women. California was the sixth state in the nation to confer these rights upon women; it didn't become a national right until 1920.
This full afternoon tea held at a 100-year-old landmark home on Magnolia Avenue in Larkspur (featured on pages 240-242 in the recently published book Larkspur Past and Present). The tea will include delectable sweet and savory goodies served on heirloom china, fine tea, and genteel amusements. Period costume (or reasonable facsimile) is encouraged, but not required.
