FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

ADVENTURES AMONG ANTS

Where/When: Book Passage, 51 Tamal Vista, Corte Madera, Thursday, 7pm

Why Go: Entomolgist Mark Moffett loves ants. National Geographic calls him the “Indiana Jones of entomology.” You and your kids will love this totally engaging speaker. Did you know there are ants that grow their own food?  Yup, it’s true. Find out more amazing ant facts from the man himself.

Pricing: Free

MANGA WORKSHOP

Where/When: Corte Madera Library, 400 Magnolia Ave., Corte Madera, Wednesday, 3:30pm-5pm

Why Go: Because this workshop’s back again.  Yippee.  If you have a 9-15 year old that’s into the Japanese comics known as Manga, here’s their chance to learn some tricks of the trade. No experience necessary and all materials are included.

Pricing: Free but please call the library to RSVP at 415-927-5005.

THE MARIN MAMMAL CENTER RUN FOR THE SEALS

Where/When: Rodeo Beach, Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Marin Headlands (Fort Cronkhite), Sausalito. Saturday, 7:30am-5pm.

Why Go: This run is for the whole family as well as a fundraiser for the seal pups. You can even bring the dog ( & stroller). After the race there’s fun for everyone at the Marine Mammal Center.

Pricing: Adult Race Day Registration: $45.00 per person, Child Race Day Registration (12 & Under): $25.00 per person, Children 4 and under are free. Dogs are also free - but must be on a leash.

FARMERS’ MARKET

Where/When:2257 Larkspur Landing Circle, Larkspur, Saturday, 9am-2pm.

Why Go: Pony rides. Petting zoo.  & don’t forget the amazing food and live music. This week it’s Dr. Elmo and Wild Blue.  While you’re there why not share a pulled pork sandwich (or something equally yummy) with the kiddos?  Remember the wet wipes.

Pricing: Free admission. $1 pony rides and complimentary petting zoo.

PAJAMA NIGHT AT DOODLEBUG

Where/When: doodlebug Marin, 641 San Anselmo Blvd., San Anselmo, Friday, 6pm-9pm

Why Go: Your kids love putting on the pj’s, eating pizza and playing games. You get a  few "free" Friday night hours. Why not a real grown-up dinner?  It’s a win-win. Reserve a spot. Ages 3+.

Pricing:$30 per child, +$25 each additional family member.
