MARIN COUNTY BAKE SALE FOR JAPAN

Where/When: Marin County Mart, 2257 Larkspur Landing Circle, Larkspur, Saturday, 10-2 p.m.

Why Go: Because your kids want to be involved and that’s a good thing. Help by making some yummy baked goods to sell at the Mart. Or if you don’t feel like baking, why not go over and buy something delicious. All proceeds go to Peace, Winds, Japan  (you can drop off the goodies after 8 a.m.).

SPRING FARM TOUR - WOOLLY EGG RANCH

Where/When: No parking at the ranch.  Instead, park at Tamalpais Valley Community Center, 203 Marin Ave. at Tennessee Valley Rd., Mill Valley, Saturday, tours at 10 a.m. & 1 p.m.

Why Go: Because this ranch is the only working sustainable farm in Tamalpais Valley. Take a tour with the kids;  they’ll love seeing the chickens and sheep and there might just be a spring lamb. Wouldn’t that be great?

Pricing: $5  (the fields can get muddy so dress appropriately) 415-388-6393.

6TH ANNUAL YOUTH FILM FESTIVAL

Where/When: Lark Theater, 549 Magnolia, Larkpsur, Sunday 11:30 a.m.

Why Go: Because these young auteurs have real talent.  29 short films (11 minutes or under) have been accepted for this this year’s festival.  Check out what the future looks like.

Pricing: $10.00.  (Advanced tickets recommended.)

MEET AUTHOR JEANNE WALKER

Where/When: Corte Madera Library, 707 Meadowsweet Dr.,Corte Madera, Tuesday, 3:30-4 p.m.

Why Go: Take the kids to the library and meet the author of the book Astro the Steller Sea Lion.  Jeanne Walker will read this sweet story about an orphaned pup who preferred humans to sea life. Did you know that Astro was fed a whipped cream and herring smoothie?  Who’d want to leave?

Pricing: Free.

RESTORE LITTLE KING MEADOW

Where/When: King Mountain Preserve, Cedar Ave., Marin County Parks and Open Space Entrance Gate, Corte Madera, Saturday, 9-1 p.m.

Why Go: The kids want to take care of the land too. The “Thistle Lady” will be on hand to show you and the kids what fifteen years of volunteer labor has done. Then it’s time to get their hands dirty (but their hearts will be warm).  Volunteers 6+.
