Don't miss this special opportunity to see "Vanishing of the Bees" a 2009 documentary film directed by George Langworthy and Maryam Henein. The story centers around the sudden disappearance of honey bees from beehives around the world, caused by the poorly understood phenomenon known as Colony Collapse Disorder. The film will be moderated by Jerry Draper, a Marin Organic farmer member who has been keeping bees with his wife, Mea McNeil for over twenty five years at their farm in San Anselmo. Jerry will talk about the upcoming Marin Pollen Project, a study to assess pesticide use and potential impacts on pollinators by collecting and testing the pollen of honey bees from thirty hives located throughout Marin. Guests will enjoy a honey tasting by City Bees, featuring a variety of micro-climate neighborhood honeys from San Francisco.
