The Town of Corte Madera and the Central Marin Police Authority (CMPA) continue to receive complaints about dogs off the leash in Town Park. Please adhere to the Town’s leash law, which is prominently posted throughout the park. Town staff and CMPA have issued several warnings over the last several months; however, complaints and violations continue.
There’s a misconception that if no other park patrons are present, then no one is paying attention to the dog owner’s actions, or the leash violation. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. Residents and visitors are encouraged to monitor and report violations to CMPA at (415)927-5150.

Town staff is requesting your immediate attention to the leash law so that both Town staff and CMPA can allocate their resources to address higher priority issues arising from the pandemic and the associated health order. Please share this message with your friends and neighbors as the last thing the Town and CMPA would like to do, is issue our residents a costly citation for a violation that certainly can and should be avoided.
As a reminder, dogs must be a on leash no longer than 6 feet long and under handler’s control while in Town Park. The only area within Town Park where dogs are permitted to be off their leash is within the fenced dog park located on the southeast corner of Town Park.
