Alison Owings talks about Indian Voices: Listening to Native Americans. Owings uses her reportorial and interviewing skills to create a captivating oral history of Native Americans and what they say about themselves, their daily lives, and the world around them. Owings is the author of Hey, Waitress! and Frauen: German Women Recall the Third Reich.

Follow a beautiful 5K looping course around the Marin Center Lagoon and the surrounding neighborhood with over 3,000 of your friends, neighbors, and community members in the largest collaborative fundraiser and celebration in Marin County. Enjoy a pancake breakfast, over a dozen local bands and performing groups, free refreshments, prizes and giveaways, kid races, costume contests, and a community fair with over one hundred booths of games and activities.

Sunday:
Marin Arts presents its annual gallery exhibit featuring artworks from each participating 2011 Open Studios artist. Come and celebrate the arts at the source, with the Marin Arts Open Studios,one of Marin’s largest and most popular annual art events. The18th edition promises to be the best yet, bringing in new elements to an already very successful formula. For the first time performing arts events will be held countywide, echoing the established success of a strong visual arts presence. Check out the open studios in Corte Madera and Larkspur.
If you go: Begin at the Marin Arts Council, located at 906 4th St. in San Rafael and view the gallery exhibit featuring artwork from each participating open studio artist, then pick-up a free copy of Marin Arts Tour Guide 2011 featuring locations of the participating artists.
