Art a la Carte at Aventine Pops Up on Sunday, June 2

The Aventine and ArtWalk San Diego will celebrate San Diego’s trending pop-up movement with a third serving of Art a la Carte, an outdoor food-meets-art event showcasing the works of noted local artists and entertainment. Art a la Carte will take place at Aventine on Sunday, June 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. Foodies and art lovers alike are invited to attend this complimentary street festival-inspired event and immerse themselves in San Diego’s thriving fine arts and dining scene. Guests are encouraged to stroll along the lifestyle center’s “restaurant row,” take in the sights and sounds and then stop into their choice of Aventine eatery—including Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Truluck’s Seafood, Steak & Crab House, The Melting Pot and Cafe Japengo—to enjoy happy hour specials all night. Featured Artists and Performers for Sunday, June 2: • Tom Griesgraber—One of the few full-time Chapman Stick players in the world, his music and skill on his unusual 12-string guitar/bass/synth hybrid mesmerizes audiences and music industry pros alike. • Jon Koehler—Creator of unique kinetic sculptures ranging in size from 30 inches to 30 feet tall, with exhibitions taking place domestically and internationally. • Craig Kindel—Artists who uses light and water to create vivid and striking artistic visions that move in front of the viewer. • Pete Tillack—Australian-born artist who uses a technical analysis of contrast and monotone colors to dramatize the silhouettes and reflections of sunrises and sunsets. • Norm Daniels—Inspired by Southern California, he is known for his “plein air” paintings of surfing scenes and familiar San Diego sights. • Judy Mandel—Colorful scene painter originally from Brooklyn, New York whose works have been shown at international art shows and can be found in local galleries. • Tricia Skoglund—Specializing in metal abstracts, her unusually textured works vary from a collection of warm and neutral colors to bright blue seascape tones. Art a la Carte is a monthly series bringing San Diego’s artistic and culinary scenes together at Aventine every first Sunday of the month throughout the spring and summer months. This pop-up series is produced in partnership with ArtWalk San Diego, producer of San Diego’s original fine art festivals, including ArtWalk @NTC Liberty Station and Mission Federal ArtWalk.
