June 7 is National Donut Day and The Salvation Army in San Diego is celebrating by giving away 50 dozen Krispy Kreme Donuts to say thank you to the community for supporting its work all year long. 


National Donut Day commemorates Salvation Army “Doughnut Lassies,” who provided writing supplies, stamps, clothes-mending, home-cooked meals and donuts for soldiers on the front lines of World War I.

The Salvation Army Doughnut Lassies will be at Fashion Valley Simon Mall and Westfield Plaza Bonita Mall from 12-2 p.m. on Friday, June 7.

Krispy Kreme is donating all the donuts to The Salvation Army as well as giving out one free donut per customer at their San Diego locations.
