Jewish Family Service Enters Rarified Status with Sixth Consecutive “Highest Rating” from Charity Navigator
With its sixth consecutive “Highest Rating” from Charity Navigator, Jewish Family Service has joined the elite company of only 3% of nonprofits nationally who earned this distinction over this length of time. Charity Navigator, America’s premier charity evaluator, awards its 4-star designation to nonprofit organizations that have demonstrated strong fiscal management. Charity Navigator highlights the fine work of efficient charities and provides donors with the essential information needed to give them greater confidence in the charitable choices they make. According to Ken Berger, President and CEO of Charity Navigator, Jewish Family Service earned its 4-star rating through its ability to efficiently manage and grow its finances. “Only 3% of the thousands of charities that we evaluate annually have received our highest rating over a six-year period,” said Berger. “Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that Jewish Family Service adheres to good governance and other best practices that emphasize ethical activities and fiscal responsibility. Jewish Family Service’s superior fiscal practices clearly demonstrates to the public that it is worthy of its trust.” “This accomplishment,” said Michael Hopkins, CEO of Jewish Family Service, “is a testament to our Board of Directors and staff who take great pride in fulfilling our mission and managing our resources so we can help move clients along the continuum of self-sufficiency. It addresses perhaps the greatest donor concern—that their money is stewarded wisely and put to good use.”
