San Diego Foundation Funds Two Nonprofit CEOs to attend Stanford Executive Leadership Program
The San Diego Foundation (www.sdfoundation.org) and the Stanford Graduate School of Business have selected two recipients for the Stanford Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders (EPNL) scholarship – Sally Costello, Executive Director, Escondido Humane Society, and Mark Klaus, President & CEO, Home of Guiding Hands. Every two years, Stanford University’s Center for Social Innovation (CSI) provides nonprofit leaders from social and human services, healthcare, community development, and education organizations the opportunity to become CSI Fellows. From June 23rd through July 3rd, 2013 on the Stanford University campus, Fellows will participate in the Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders (EPNL), a program designed to further the professional development of current and future leaders in the nonprofit sector. “We know that Sally and Mark will be eager students, wonderful representatives of the San Diego community as well as generous contributors to the educational experiences of others,” said Connie Matsui, Chair, Stanford EPNL Scholarship Committee. “We are delighted that Mark and Sally will continue to develop their many talents as leaders and believe that the Escondido Humane Society and Home of Guiding Hands as well as our community will greatly benefit from their leadership.” - According to Bob Kelly, President and CEO of The San Diego Foundation, the prestigious fellowship program draws on the leading-edge research and course offerings of the Stanford faculty. “The program integrates conceptual knowledge with Fellows’ own experience to generate powerful and practical insights about leadership and management,” said Kelly. The learning stems from a variety of activities including classes, small group discussions, and individual study. Like the Stanford MBA Program, EPNL evolves as the faculty’s most current thinking and research keeps pace with the rapidly changing management environment.
