To commemorate this special occasion, The SDWF presents
their Annual Grants
Celebration, a festive evening to honor
the new 2013 grantees and three past community partners. The event
which is scheduled for June 4, 2013 @ 5:30-7:30pm will be held at the Francis Parker School,
is free and open to the
public.
In addition to a
reception to commemorate the new grantees, from Health and Human
Services organizations, the celebration: “Your Story is Our Story” will feature
presentations by individuals from organizations that have received
SDWF grants in years past. Although their stories are unique, they share a
common theme: the transformative effect and positive difference SDWF grants have made in so many lives in San Diego.
The San Diego Women’s
Foundation will present
three compelling stories
of success:
Barrio Logan College
Institute: The story
of one young woman’s journey
from the barrio who has made it her quest to
become the first person in her family
to attend college.
Second Chance: Learn how one man has been able
to transition to living a meaningful and successful life after
spending 23 years in prison for murder.
The Monarch School: How the Monarch
School has transitioned from one room to
a brand new campus with a
thriving student population.
“The San Diego Women’s
Foundation Annual Grants
Celebration is always
such an inspirational evening,
full of emotionally charged presentations that speak to the
effectiveness of our grants.
We are so grateful to know
how we have helped to create change in the lives of many San Diegans and look
forward to continuing our work well into the future
to benefit generations to come,” commented Rita
Solberg, President of The San Diego
Women’s Foundation.
Through collective philanthropy, the entire
membership of SDWF is able to make significant one-year grants to local organizations that are selected through an intensive grantmaking process. The SDWF focuses
on four specific
grant areas: Health and Human Services,
the Environment, Education, and Arts and Culture.
