1 Arrested During Livermore DUI Checkpoint
Police screened more than 1,000 vehicles Saturday night.

LIVERMORE, CA — Police arrested one driver on suspicion of driving under the influence and towed three cars during their DUI/ license checkpoint in Livermore Saturday night. The checkpoint, which is part of an ongoing effort to reduce the number of alcohol-related collisions, deaths and injuries in the Tri-Valley, was held on First Street between Portola Avenue and Mines Road.
Officers also issued four citations to drivers without licenses, and one ticket for driving on a suspended license. Police screened a total of 1,168 vehicles looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment and proper licensing during the detail.
Drivers are encouraged to always designate a driver, use alternative methods of transportation to get home and download the Designated Driver VIP, or DDVIP, a free mobile app for Android or iPhone. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reminds everyone to report suspected drunken driving by calling 911.
