1 Dead In Crash Between Car & Truck Outside Livermore

ALAMEDA COUNTY — A driver was killed Friday in a crash with a tractor-trailer truck outside Livermore in unincorporated Alameda County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At around 12:04 p.m. Friday, CHP received reports of a major crash involving a white freightliner hauling two end-dump trailers and a tan 2004 Honda Civic. According to a preliminary investigation, the Honda was traveling northbound on Mountain House Road, north of Grant Line Road, toward the freightliner, which was traveling southbound. For an unknown reason, a broadside crash occurred within the southbound lane of traffic, causing catastrophic damage to the Honda.

One passenger in the Honda sustained fatal injuries, CHP said.

Both drivers remained on the scene and are cooperating with the investigation. Authorities say that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
