Livermore Fire Causes $700,000 In Lost Possessions, Displaces 13
Two people were injured and one person was hospitalized, the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department said.

LIVERMORE, CA — Thirteen residents of a Livermore apartment complex were displaced after a Tuesday afternoon fire.
Two people were injured an one person was hospitalized, the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department said in a news release. Tenants lost an estimated $700,000 in belongings.
Firefighters arrived to the Hayes Avenue complex around noon. Two second-floor apartments were ablaze and firefighters with LPFD and Alameda County Fire worked to contain the flames.

Multiple adjacent units were damaged by smoke and water, but all residents escaped on their own.
The cause is under investigation, but firefighters said they believe the fire started on the balcony of a second-floor unit and spread.

Firefighters reminded the public of the importance of testing and maintaining smoke detectors; one resident was asleep during the fire but was woken up by a smoke detector.
Firefighters planned to remain at the scene into Tuesday afternoon.
