Big Rig Driver May Have Fallen Asleep Before I-580 Crash: CHP
It took crews hours to pull the truck out of the ravine.

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — The California Highway Patrol is investigating a collision that occurred on eastbound Interstate 580 near the transition to eastbound Interstate 205 at about 4 a.m. Tuesday. A CHP spokesperson said the driver may have fallen asleep before veering off the road and down the side of the freeway dropping about 400 feet into a ravine.
Crews cleared the collision by noon. No one was injured during the wreck.
