Campo di Bocce to Host 2011 US Bocce Championships

The 2011 United States Bocce Championships will be held from June 25-July 2 at Campo di Bocce in Livermore and Los Gatos.

Campo di Bocce of Livermore and Campo di Bocce of Los Gatos are jointly hosting the 2011 United States Bocce Championships.

The tournament will be from June 25-July 2, and consist of more than 175 professional bocce athletes from all across the nation. These athletes will compete for the United States Gold Title and the opportunity to represent our country in the 2012 World Bocce Championships, also to be held on the Livermore courts.

When asked about the upcoming championships, first time national competitor, Kyle Mitchell, replied, "After a year of hard work and preparation, the championships are finally right around the corner. This is going to be a great opportunity for us to prove how far we have come. I personally can't wait, I’m nervous and excited about our team's first go-around in the much anticipated championships."

The sport of bocce has become the fastest growing sport in America with an estimated 25 million enthusiasts, and the second most played ball sport behind soccer. This will make the upcoming National Championships a must-see event for avid bocce players, local Bay Area residents, or any family looking to adopt a new hobby or pastime. 

Cassie LeBaron, a bocce fan, said, "Bocce is everywhere now-a-days. It seems like everywhere I go, someone is talking about the fun they had playing either in their friend's back yard or at . And now with the Nationals coming to the area, the buzz is getting even louder. My family and I are excited to see professionals from around the country compete."

Due to the growing support and following of the sport of bocce, Campo di Bocci will provide free admission for the public to the tournament on all days except the closing ceremony on the final day.

During the week of the US National Championships, Campo di Bocce will be offering daily discounted food and appetizer specials and drink specials such as $3 Peroni, Blue Moon, and house wines.

They hope all Bay Area residents will come cheer on the best bocce players in the country as they compete for the National title.
