Chronic Illnesses Find Answers in HEAL Documentary
New documentary demonstrates the power of the mind-body connection to heal illnesses and pain comes to The Vine Cinema in Livermore.

As the United States struggles to establish an effective healthcare system, and prescriptions are being filled at an all time high, a new film called HEAL puts the power of healing and health in the hands of patients. HEAL takes viewers on a scientific and spiritual journey with the spotlight on thoughts, beliefs, and emotions. It’s revealed they have great influence on our health and ultimately the body’s ability to heal itself, plus the idea that we have more control over our health and life than we have been taught to believe.
HEAL theorizes that the power of belief is everything. The film follows three people who gain transformational insight on their healing journeys about the powerful influence the mind has on our ability to heal, and on our overall health. Viewers discover that we are not victims of our family genes, but are truly equipped within ourselves to heal virtually any “dis-ease” through our thoughts, beliefs, perceptions and emotions.
“I really connected with this idea of empowering people to take charge of their own health outcomes,” said Adam Schomer, HEAL’s producer. “I believe in what we’ve accomplished with the HEAL documentary, and that is to really open audiences’ eyes to the science behind mindfulness. There is a deep connection between our immune system’s ability to function and our brain function.”

Plus, new science concurs that our genes do not control our lives, and that we do. It is the environment and thoughts we have that influence whether or not a disease is expressed. With this groundbreaking information, it is the concept that chronic disease can be prevented. It’s revolutionary information placing patients in the drivers’ seat of their health journey.
After viewing HEAL last fall in San Francisco, Teresa Shen, L.Ac and CEO of Eastern Medical was inspired to bring this film to the Tri-Valley. “Everyone should see this documentary, especially those who have been diagnosed with a chronic illness or struggle with pain. It has the ability to positively impact and change their lives forever by empowering them to return to a fulfilling life,” shares Shen.
