Bob Coomber told Pleasanton Weekly he worries his kidney failure could interfere with his ability to serve the city.

LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore City Councilmember Bob Coomber will not seek reelection this November due to health reasons, Pleasanton Weekly reported.

Coomber, a Piedmont native, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a child and developed bone density problems that contributed to leg injuries and put him in a wheelchair in the 1990s, according to his bio. Still an outdorsman, he was the first person to reach Mount Diablo, North Peak, Mission Peak and the Ohlone Wilderness Trail in a wheelchair.

He served on the East Bay Regional Parks District board from 2008 to 2016, when he was elected to serve on city council.
