Driver Hospitalized After Crashing into Livermore Light Pole

BREAKING: Police said fire crews had to extricate the driver from his car.

LIVERMORE, CA — A man who allegedly admitted he was on his cell phone and ran a red light before crashing into a light pole had to be rescued by firefighters in Livermore Wednesday night, police officials said.

The crash was reported in the area of Holmes Street and Concannon Boulevard at about 8:16 p.m. Police said the driver, who had to be extricated from the car, was taken to Eden Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision, police said.
