Expect Traffic Delays As Amgen Tour of California Hits Tri-Valley

Stage 3 of the 2019 Amgen Tour of California cycling road race is coming through the Tri-Valley today.

LIVERMORE, CA — Stage 3 of the 2019 Amgen Tour of California cycling road race is coming through the Tri-Valley Tuesday, so expect traffic delays and possible road detours. Riders participating in the Stage 3 leg will be pedaling from Stockton to Morgan Hill and are expected to arrive in the Tri-Valley beginning around 10 a.m. today. Cyclists will be descending straight into Livermore and by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The California Highway Patrol advised that affected Tri-Valley roads include: Patterson Pass Road, Greenville Road, Tesla Road and Mines Road.

The Amgen Tour of California is a Tour de France-style race created and presented by AEG. The last time the peloton headed west from Stockton was way back in 2007 when fan favorite Jens Voight arrived ahead of American Levi Leipheimer to win the stage. At 126-miles, this year’s route is quite a bit longer than a decade ago and includes more climbing – nearly 10,000 feet. A notable addition to the 2019 route is the KOM atop Mt. Hamilton (4,265 feet) before a quick descent to the finish. To view more details and a map of the event, click here. For more information on how to watch the race, click here.
