Free Teen Heart Screenings Offered In Livermore

The screening does not replace a student's annual sports physical. Sign up today! Volunteers are also needed during the event.

LIVERMORE, CA — Students in the Tri-Valley area are invited to the Via Heart Project’s cardiac screening event in Livermore in April. Youth ages 12 to 25 years of age are eligible for the free heart testing, which is hosted by the Livermore Joint Unified School District and sponsored by Stanford Valley Care and Heart of the Valley Pediatric Cardiology.

"It is estimated 1 in 500 school-aged children suffer an undiagnosed heart defect, which can lead to sudden cardiac arrest and death," the school district said in a statement. "A typical annual physical does not screen for advanced heart abnormalities."

Screenings last about 60 to 90 minutes. The event will be held at Livermore High School on April 22 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Register your child for their screening.
