Commuters on I-580 through the Tri-Valley will soon have a new choice. Express lanes are specially-designated carpool/HOV lanes that are free for carpoolers with a FasTrak Flex toll tag, and give solo drivers the choice to pay a toll to use the lanes when there is excess capacity, improving the commute for all motorists. A FasTrak® or FasTrak Flex toll tag is required for all I-580 express lane users. Get yours today online or at Costco, Safeway or Walgreens stores throughout the Tri-Valley.

Carpools, vanpools, motorcycles, buses and eligible clean-air vehicles use the I-580 express lanes for free as long as they carry a FasTrak Flex toll tag set to 2 or 3+. Solo drivers can choose to pay a toll using a standard FasTrak or FasTrak Flex toll tag set to 1 to access the lanes for more reliable travel times. The new lanes will feature near continuous access – so drivers can enter and exit at almost any point, providing easy access to and from local exits. Please note, to access I-680 from the westbound I-580 Express Lane, exit the express lane by Hacienda (before the lane turns to restricted access).
