Homeless Encampment Fire Threatened Livermore Homes: Fire Officials
Fire officials said a second homeless encampment fire was reported early Thursday morning.

LIVERMORE, CA — One of two fires that broke out near Livermore homeless encampments and spread to nearby vegetation threatened several townhouses, fire officials said. Flames and embers from the blaze, which was reported at 9:16 p.m. on Wednesday in the area of First and Scott streets, threatened homes in Worthing Common.
“Upon our arrival, a homeless encampment and surrounding vegetation were burning between a sound wall and railroad property," Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Battalion Chief Paul Legasa said.
Legasa said the area was difficult for fire apparatus due to security fencing and railroad tracks. Fire crews were able to contain and extinguish the fire within about fifteen minutes of arrival and the Livermore Police Department was called to investigate due to the nature of the fire.
