'Hottest Spot' In Tri-Valley Nearly Breaks 1944 Heat Record
BREAKING: National Weather Service heat warnings and advisories remain in effect Monday for the East Bay and throughout the Bay Area.

LIVERMORE, CA — As Livermore residents already know, the weather indeed was very hot this past weekend -- hot enough to tie a high temperature record set 73 years ago. With the weekend's triple-digit temperatures putting much of the San Francisco Bay Area under excessive heat warnings and advisories, the National Weather Service reported several record- and near-record breaking temperatures, including in Livermore on Saturday, where the high of 105 degrees tied with a record set on Aug. 26, 1944.
Further, at 107 degrees Sunday, Livermore was the East Bay's hottest spot. Elsewhere in the Bay Area, the Peninsula's hottest spot Sunday was Redwood City (90 degrees); and in the South Bay, it was Gilroy (102 degrees).
In addition to Livermore, here are other Bay Area heat records set or tied over the weekend, according to the NWS:
