Intermediate World Series Little League Wraps Up For Tri-Valley

While the local kids didn't win the championship, it was a week of dreams come true for all competitors.

LIVERMORE, CA — The Intermediate 50/70 World Series wrapped up Sunday at Max Baer Field in Livermore, and while the local kids didn't win the championship it was a week of dreams come true for all competitors.

Livermore was eliminated from the tournament July 31 after a 7-5 loss to Roswell, New Mexico. Competition was stiff all the way around in the series that began July 28. Twelve teams (six international, six U.S.) competed in the Intermediate Division bracket for 11- to 13-year-old players. Livermore represented District 57, which covers the Tri-Valley. The team won the District 57 championship in June to qualify for the World Series tournament.

Players with McCalla, Alabama's Southeast Team were crowned the 2019 Little League Intermediate World Series Champions after their win over the Mexico Region on Sunday.

Alabama's Drake McBride was clutch at the plate, driving in four runs on two hits to lead the Southeast Region past the Mexico Region 9-5.

Sunday's championship was televised on ESPN.
