Livermore Apartment Fire Displaces 21 Residents
Fire officials say smoke detectors likely saved the occupants' lives.

LIVERMORE, CA: A family of four escaped uninjured from their burning apartment early Sunday morning, Livermore-Pleasanton Fire officials said.
According to Battalion Chief Paul Legasa, flames were visible from the front windows and door of the second-floor apartment unit located in the 2200 block of Chestnut Lane. The fire, which was reported just after 3 a.m., was contained to the kitchen area of the home.
“All occupants of the triplex were displaced from this fire,” fire officials said in a statement. “The American Red Cross made arrangement for the relocation of 21 displaced occupants.”

No one was injured during the fire and the cause of the blaze is under investigation. Fire officials did not have an estimate of the dollar loss associated with this fire.
“The early notification of a fire by the smoke alarm likely saved the occupants lives,” fire officials said. “Refer to the NFPA website regarding smoke alarms for proper installation, fire safety, and family escape plans.”
