Livermore Carjacking Suspects Arrested: Tracy Police

An 18-year-old from Tracy and three juvenile suspects were apprehended thanks to license plate reading technology, Tracy police said.

LIVERMORE, CA — Four suspects were arrested in Tracy in connection with a carjacking in Livermore, the Tracy Police Department reported.

On Friday, Feb. 9 at around 9:31 p.m., Livermore police entered vehicle information into the Flock Safety Automatic License Plate Reader database, and were able to see that the vehicle had recently been in northwest Tracy, according to the TPD. They contacted Tracy police, who used the information to quickly locate the vehicle near Byron Road and Great Valley Parkway, where they deployed spike strips and stopped the car. The four occupants tried to run, but were detained. Livermore police responded and took custody of the three juveniles.

The fourth occupant, 18-year-old Angel Nieto of Tracy, admitted to driving the car. He was arrested and booked in San Joaquin County Jail on charges of receiving a stolen motor vehicle, evading a police officer, and resisting arrest.
