Livermore Police Help Reunite Missing Bulldog With Its Owner
A chance car search resulted in the reunion of an abandoned dog with its owners, who live 8 hours away.

LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore police helped reunite a French bulldog with his owner after a year.
On Jan. 4, Livermore police located a parked vehicle reported for reckless driving. The owner of the vehicle was identified as a parolee with an active, no-bail parole violation warrant, police said.
Officers found an abandoned bulldog in the car. The car was towed, and the bulldog was transported to the East County Animal Shelter for safekeeping.

At the shelter, an Alameda County Sheriff technician found a microchip on the dog and saw that he belonged to a family in Chula Vista. Technician Symonds contacted the owner, who told him that their dog Muny had been missing for over a year.
The owner also told the shelter that they had been receiving messages from an unknown sender requesting money for his return. The caller never provided any proof they had the dog, and the family felt it was a scam.

The family immediately made the eight-hour drive to pick up Muny from Dublin.
January has been a lucky month for dogs in the Tri-Valley. On Jan. 15, Pleasanton police officers rescued two puppies from the back seat of what they say was a stolen vehicle, and brought them to a shelter.
