LIVERMORE, CA — This one's for the Livermorons.

Six local breweries collaborated on a special double IPA set to make its public debut at the fourth annual Livermore Downtown Brew Crawl & Food Drive to benefit the Alameda County Community Food Bank. The Livermoron IIPA will be poured during the event, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Feb. 13 at at Beer Baron, First Street Alehouse, Hops and Sessions, Sauced BBQ and Spirits, and Tap 25 Craft Beer Livermore.

Livermore's first collaborative beer was released last year and dubbed Livermorium IPA, after chemical element number 116. It was brewed at Shadow Puppet Brewing Company.

Livermoron IIPA is being brewed at Pennyweight Craft Brewing, said founder Chris Guy. Pennyweight is expected to open a bar and restaurant in downtown Livermore in the coming weeks.

Altamont Beer Works, Eight Bridges Brewing, Homegrown Hops Brewing Company, Rivers End Brewing Company and Shadow Puppet Brewing Company are working with Pennyweight to create the brew, according to the event website.

"Getting a room full of brewers is just like getting a room full of chefs," Guy said.

Pennyweight circulated a base recipe and other breweries pitched in to bring ingredients, Guy said.

"This town really, really, really loves its hops," he said. "It loves its IPAs."

IPAs tend to be higher-alcohol with more malt and body, Guy said.

As for the name, Livermore native Guy said the city is a strong community, where locals are proud and humbled to be from their hometown.

"I am all about it," he said. "I will definitely own that name."

Brew crawl eventgoers are asked to bring food to donate or at an online app, which will allow people to donate money to the food bank and enter a raffle for prizes, event organizers say. Every dollar donated will mean $7 in groceries for the food bank.

The Livermore Valley Craft Beer Foundation is "really proud to partnered" with the Alameda County Community Food Bank, said foundation head Jon Sylvester.

There will be no charge or glassware charge for the event.
