Tiffany's Dance Academy is proud to present their 10th annual production of The Nutcracker. The Nutcracker will include dancers from Tiffany's Dance Academy ranging in age from 5-18. They will be joined onstage by members of Con Danza, and together they will present Tchaikovsky's classical Ballet. The Nutcracker Ballet is based on the German folktale in which young Clara Stahlbaum's favorite Christmas toy, a Nutcracker given to her by the mysterious Drosselmeyer, comes alive. After defeating the evil Mouse King in battle, the Nutcracker Prince takes Clara to a Magical Kingdom populated by faries and toys. Tiffany Henderson, owner and founder of Tiffany's Dance Academy describes the Nutcracker as "A holiday tradition that brings together family and friends to celebrate the magic of the season."
From The Director:
The Nutcracker has always been a favorite of mine, not only because of the beautiful dancing and music, but because of the story. This Ballet production was created during a century when art forms came together to create this holiday tradition. Since then, this production has been presented by many prestigious ballet companies in the world and it is fundamental to their repertory. I have been part of this production in co-directing and in collaboration with former director Hannah Varga for four years. This year, my fifth one, I am directing the production with the artistic assistance of Cassidy Stocker and Robbie Teruya as the production coordinator. The choreography has remained but some modifications and arrangements have been made. We have about 300 student and professional dancers as well as staff and volunteers to support us to be able to present a professional production. Every year, new choreography, characters, costumes and set pieces are added. This year, it is an exciting year because it is a year of change for Tiffany’s Dance Academy. We have a collage of choreography as we have the faculty contribute to this production. On a personal note, I am excited to be directing the production this year as ConDanza, a dance Company I direct and founded, will be part of it as the professional element. I am bringing 30 years of experience to continue to develop this traditional holiday spectacle to present a high quality show the the tri-valley and the bay area can be proud of.
