• Dublin, Pleasanton Animal Shelter Costs Rise After Livermore Pulls Out (patch.com) — Livermore's decision to leave a shared animal-shelter funding agreement and contract with East Bay SPCA has shifted more of the East County Animal Shelter's costs onto neighboring Dublin and Pleasanton. Livermore animals now go to the SPCA facility on Gleason Drive in Dublin, while Dublin's council is weighing a new, shorter-term contract with Alameda County to keep the county-run shelter operating.
   

• Tri-Valley employers implement mass layoffs (livermorevine.com) — Major employers across the Tri-Valley, including Workday, Chevron, Kaiser, Safeway, Oracle and John Muir, have cut more than 400 local jobs since July, hitting many high-level engineering and management roles. While most layoffs center on Pleasanton and San Ramon, Livermore readers are affected through the broader regional job market and shifting corporate operations that may influence commuting, local spending, and future hiring.
   

• Resurgent San Ramon Valley football readies for stacked schedule in second half of season (pleasantonweekly.com) — Local football and flag football fans will see Livermore teams figure into a tough second-half schedule for San Ramon Valley and a strong run by Amador Valley's girls flag squad. Livermore High appears on SRV's upcoming slate, and Amador Valley recently logged a 19-6 win over Livermore in EBAL play, tightening league races that include several Tri-Valley schools.
