Snow Above Lake Del Valle: Livermore Photo Of The Day

The green hills have turned white Friday as a historic amount of snow falls throughout California.

LIVERMORE, CA — A winter storm that National Weather Services are calling "unprecedented" has dropped between one to three inches of snow on the East Bay Hills. In higher elevations near Cloverdale, the total was closer to six inches. The heights of the Santa Cruz Mountains saw an entire foot of snow, causing the closure of Highway 17 from Scotts Valley to Los Gatos.

This photo, submitted by reader Janice Pruett, shows just a sprinkling of snow in the hills above Lake Del Valle in Livermore, enough to see the beautiful, mystical, and rare commingling of green and white.

Thank you Janice!
