Student Reportedly Loses Consciousness At Large LHS Fight: Police

Police say students fled after a large fight in the LHS gym foyer at a basketball game Tuesday night.

LIVERMORE, CA — A large fight broke out during a basketball game in the gym of Livermore High School Tuesday evening, causing one 17-year-old to reportedly lose consciousness, according to the Livermore Police Department.

Livermore police said they responded to reports of a fight involving "multiple juveniles" in the foyer of the school gym at around 8:40 p.m. Suspects reportedly fled the area before officers arrived. The Livermore Police Department's Criminal Investigations Bureau has taken over the investigation, and is working with school resource officers and the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District to identify those involved.

The school postponed the game following the fight, the game will be rescheduled with increased security present, LHS Principal Roxana Mohammed told families in an email.

A 17-year-old male from Livermore reportedly lost consciousness during the fight, and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Patch asked whether he had regained consciousness or received medical treatment, but police declined to elaborate. Emergency medical services and additional school staff were called to the scene immediately, Principal Mohammed said.

Police said there were reports that a suspect may have displayed a firearm during the altercation, but said Thursday that no firearm was involved. Police also said no firearm was located on the scene.

The incident remains under active investigation, police said. Additional information will be released as it becomes available. Anyone with information is asked to call LPD's anonymous tip line at 925-371-4790.
