Threat At Livermore High Deemed ‘Not Credible,’ Principal Says

Extra officers are assigned to the school this week as a precaution.

LIVERMORE, CA — A threat discovered in the bathroom at Livermore High School Monday has been deemed “not credible,” according to school officials and police. In the wake of the discovery, Principal Vicki Scudder sent a letter and phone message with an update to parents Tuesday morning.

Police said a student discovered the handwritten note "that alleged a direct threat to the school" inside a bathroom Monday morning. School administrators alerted police to the discovery and conducted an investigation. Extra officers are being assigned to the school this week as a precaution.

Dear LHS Parents:
This e-mail duplicates a phone message that you should have just received from me. School has started and all of us are in our classrooms and ready to begin another normal day at LHS. Yesterday we brought the contents of a written message to the attention of the Livermore Police Department. The police and our administration conducted a normal investigation and found the issue to be not credible. The department did agree to be present at school this morning to alleviate the concerns of our students and our parents. They were joined by our superintendent and members of her cabinet. We truly appreciate the support shown by everyone.
To you, our parents, I hope you know that I would never jeopardize your children or ignore even the smallest incident. To me as a teacher myself, this is truly a teachable moment. I will speak with your children this morning to assure them that all is well, share what I have just shared with you, and encourage them to talk to their parents and consider the strength and positivity they possess. We all need to be vigilant and take care of one another.
Thanks for your continued support.
Vicki Scudder, Principal
