2 Shot Near Houghton Park, Take Themselves To Hospital

Two men took themselves to the hospital after a shooting near Houghton Park Wednesday night, LBPD said.

LONG BEACH, CA — Two men took themselves to the hospital after a shooting near Houghton Park Wednesday night, the Long Beach Police Department said.

Officers said they were notified about the shooting after the two victims arrived at a local hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

When officers arrived at the hospital, the two men told them the shooting happened in the 6300 block of Myrtle Avenue. The victims said they were approached by two other men and an argument began, which resulted in the shooting.

While the victims took themselves to the hospital, the other two men fled the scene before officers arrived. LBPD said they located evidence at the scene, including bullet casings, that indicated that a shooting happened.

LBPD said the motive for the shooting is under investigation.
